Sophie's broken head, part 2

so, last week we were at the ballpark watching a marathon game night and Sophie took yet another tumble, off of the bleachers this time. She only fell a couple of feet, but she landed on the same exact spot on her head that she hit back in May. She seemed to be fine after a few minutes of crying, but just to be certain we took her over to Mountain View to be checked out. After a fight to get a CT it was determined that she needed to be transported to Primary Children's and quickly. The doctors say that her skull "exploded" and that she now had a fracture from top to bottom on the back right side of her head. There is also a 13 mm bleed in the area surrounding the brain. It is called an Epidural Hematoma. We were transported by ambulance at 3 am and finally admitted and in a room by 6:30am in the Neuroscience Trauma Unit at PCMC. It was a terribly stressful long night! After we were settled in her room they came in and took some blood and put in an IV just in case she needed to be rushed into surgery to evacuate the blood. She was so super brave and didn't even cry! Later in the morning they took us down for another CT and then another one a few hours later. They needed to make sure the bleed wasn't growing. If it had grown even up to 15mm they would have taken her in to drain it to prevent pressure on the brain which could result in loss of conciousness or seizures. It was terifying to say the least. By friday morning she appeared to be just fine after yet another CT scan and they decided it would be safe to send us home as the bleed hadn't changed in a 24 hour period. Through all this, Sophie stayed in high spirits. She is a super trooper for sure. I definately got my strength from her through this whole ordeal. Our doctors continually commented on her positive behavior and how much it told them, even more then the CT. She definately got pampered during her stay there. She was able to order from there quite extensive room service menu as often as she liked from meals to snacks. It was quite impressive. She was taken on several wagon rides and even had the nurses up on the bed with her playing games. The staff of doctors, nurses, and techs were all remarkable. They took great care of us while we were there! A big thank you to PCMC! She is doing alright now and if we can survive the next 8 weeks, we'll all be fine. The only activity she can particpate in is walking, so that rules out park and pool dayz for her :( ! We have another CT scheduled for the 14th of July to make sure the blood is being absorbed. Thank you so much to all of you that came by to show your luv and support. We appreciate all the visits and little gifts that have been brought by our home.

More Graduates!

We have had five graduations this year! So exciting!
My sister Susan graduated from Boise State University with a degree in Education! She is Spectacular! With all the terrible things she has gone through the past few months and she still made it! We are so happy for this new chapter in her life. A new beginning for her and her kiddos!
Then of course we had Kenzie's(Cody's girlfriend)and Jayden's(niece)graduation from Spanish Fork High School. They both graduated with High Honors! Wow!

And last, but not least Alicia(niece)graduated from Timpview High School! Lizzy and I had a lot of fun making Candy Lei's for her! She is an amazing piano player and played for the choir during the ceremony. It was awesome! She is so super talented.

I luv graduations! Not the long boring part of it, but just the proudness you feel for those bettering there lives and moving forward to bigger and greater things! Congratulations to All of You!
